This season we are celebrating being together and bringing you talented young musicians from the South Sound area performing great works of orchestral literature. Our featured guest artist for our season-opening concert is Andy Classen, Professor of Trumpet and Jazz Studies at Drake University. He will be performing with all four groups of SOGO’s 131 young musicians, including works by Leroy Anderson, Oskar Böhme, Georg Philip Telemann, and more, plus a special surprise!
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR A GREAT CONCERT!
Thank you to the Community Foundation of South Puget Sound for inviting SOGO to participate in their 7th annual GIVE LOCAL campaign. We have met and exceeded our goal of $30,000! When the clock struck midnight on November 18 SOGO’s GIVE LOCAL campaign reached $34,100!
Everyone was so gracious in supporting SOGO’s core program and outreach to area schools! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
We will be reporting in December the total campaign including the BONUS FUND stretch.

We have a special meet and greet Sunday, August 28, at Jefferson M.S. SOGO musicians will be rehearsing while parents get to know one another and meet our board members and hear about the amazing season ahead. The following is a general schedule of the event:
3:30-4pm – Check-in, pay tuition and pick up music.
4pm – All musicians in the gym rehearse Chorales 1, 2, and 3, and parents hear the first “concert” of the season.
4:30pm – Each group goes to their assigned rehearsal rooms to read through their folder of music. New parents and those wanting a refresher course on what to expect for the season will attend a meeting in the “small gym.” Parents will also have time to meet other families involved in SOGO, plan a carpool, and look at our Concert Closet clothing, which has gently used items donated by parents of grown children. Parents can also listen in on the different rehearsals.
5:40pm – Everyone transitions back to the large gym for a unique “Beauty – Together concert.” Parents are also invited to perform in the concert or just enjoy listening.
6pm – Thank you for coming and the first official rehearsal of the season will be Sunday, September 11, 2022! SO-GO!
