SOGO 2 Schools supports local school bands and orchestras by providing Teaching Artists for sectionals, private lessons, and ensemble coaching. SOGO Teaching Artists are highly-qualified musicians with experience performing and teaching throughout the region and are dedicated to developing skilled and enthusiastic young musicians.
The SOGO 2 Schools program is designed to assist our local school music teachers and provide students access to individual musical instruction and began in 2020. During the 2022-2023 school year, we provided more than 230 sectionals to schools and 330 private lessons to over 50 students.
School music programs receive up to 4 sectionals with a group of musicians. After the set of sectionals is complete, the students served are eligible to apply for 4 30-minute online private lessons with a SOGO Teaching Artist.
Following these initial sessions, schools and students can:
- Receive up to four more lessons
- Sit in on a SOGO Orchestra rehearsal
- See a SOGO concert for free or reduced price
- Participate in SOGO Summer Music Classes for free or reduced tuition
The SOGO 2 Schools program is provided at no cost to the school or students thanks to generous donations to the Future Music Makers fund. To learn more about donating to support this program and scholarships for young musicians, please visit our Donation page.
