John Williams’ stirring Olympic Spirit sets the tone before SOGO proudly features graduating SOGO senior Gracie Park, flute, performing the third movement of Carl Reinecke’s Concerto for Flute. The Conservatory Orchestra then takes on one of the most profound works of Gustav Mahler, the 4th movement (Urlicht, “Primal Light”) of Symphony No. 2, “Resurrection.“ The concert concludes with Joaquín Turina’s vibrant Fiesta en San Juan de Aznalfarache, the exhilarating third movement from Sinfonía Sevillana, closing the concert with colorful rhythms and the festive spirit of Spain.
